Eco Conscious Food for Dogs – Beco Pets
As a family we are incredibly conscious about the food we put on our table. I do shop in supermarkets, however where possible, I source most of our food from local suppliers; whether it is vegetables we have grown in our vegetable garden, eggs our chickens have produced, the local farm shop, or our neighbours small holding.
I like to be sure that the food we eat, has travelled as few miles as possible, and as meat eaters, the meat that we eat is responsibly sourced. Our chickens act as my vegetable garden pest patrol, choosing my feathered friends over nasty pesticides.
We eat a balanced diet, making sure that we eat meat limited times a week, and are also cautious about the amount of dairy and gluten in our diet too, as we have all suffered from slight intolerances at some point.
So, when it comes to our family pet, our 9 year old spaniel, I always feel slightly guilty when I dish up his evening meal. I often wonder just what it is that I am feeding him. From a pup, he has always been on a gluten and grain free working mix which he enjoys and then I heard of a new eco conscious dog food that had just launched.
Beco Food for Dogs; manufactured in the UK (‘B’ for British, ‘eco’ for their eco credentials), Beco Food for dogs is made from fresh, sustainably sourced, high-quality ingredients, resulting in a hypoallergenic food which is both better for the dog and also better for the environment (their packaging is compostable too!).
The balanced dog food recipes have been put together with the help of pet nutritionists and are veterinary approved. Each recipe uses the very best quality produce; ethically sourced meat, locally sourced vegetables and herbs and enriched with superfoods, such as, kale, chickpeas, pumpkin, and chicory root to help a dog’s digestion and immune system, giving dogs the boost they needs.
As well as the meat and vegetables all being responsibly sourced, Beco dog food uses only natural ingredients; it is free from grains, preservatives, additives and meat derivatives.
When I contacted Beco Pets, they kindly sent my spaniel some of this eco friendly dog food to try. We were sent MSC Certified Cod & Haddock dog food, as fish is his absolute favourite food, but it isn’t something he eats regularly as we are all too aware in our house about the global issues surrounding over-fishing and fish stocks rapid decline.
However, this Fish dog food from Beco contains high quality, sustainably caught fish, helping preserve fish stocks for generations to come and has been certified by the Marine Stewardship Council.
There are three eco friendly dog food recipes to choose from:
Free Range Chicken Dog Food
Beco food for dogs, rear their free range chickens in an ethical environment, giving the chickens the freedom to roam outdoors.
Wild Boar Dog Food
Free roaming, foraging animals, wild boar produce less damaging methane than grazing animals like cows and sheep, which makes Beco dog food more eco-friendly.
MSC Certified Cod & Haddock Dog Food
Beco food for dogs uses only Marine Stewardship Council-certified fish.
When I gradually introduced Beco food for dogs, he didn’t sit about, he got stuck in and ate it in one sitting, rather than eating a bit, then coming back to his bowl later in the evening. He really did enjoy all the recipes, his coat is looking glossy and I feel happy, knowing I gave him a great dog food which is naturally delicious, grain free and a fully eco friendly meal.
