As we all know as we get older, time seems to speed up; life gets busy and often we overlook small areas of our lives. One such area for me is breakfast; in my 20s, I rarely ate breakfast, and as life got more and more busy, I spent less and less time in the mornings looking after myself, resulting in feeling hungry by midday, or snacking continuously throughout the day at my desk.
In my late 20s, early 30s, I became better, but when my daughter arrived, the mornings were spent sorting her needs out rather than my own and before I knew it, it would be lunchtime and I had barely stopped to take a breath, let alone eat breakfast.
Over the past year or so, I have been making a more conscious effort to make time for breakfast, not just for myself and my health, but I also think it is very important for my daughter to see me stop and eat, to make time for chatting about the day ahead, instead of rushing about fussing over everyone.
Recently I was gifted a hamper which included some beautifully packaged Limited Edition – Gently Spiced Carrot & Apple Muesli from Dorset Cereals to sample and I have been enjoying it for my morning breakfast over the last week.
Inspired by the flavour and tastes of carrot cake, the new Gently Spiced Carrot & Apple Muesli flavour has certainly spiced up my morning breakfast. The Limited Edition cereal offers a variety of very unique tastes, with a blend of toasted flakes with carrot, dried fruits and pecans, spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. This delicious breakfast cereal has the natural sweetness of apple, so it has no added sugar and the apple really works as the perfect accompaniment to the savoury flavour of carrot.
Like me, Dorset Cereals believe it is very important to take time to sit, relax and enjoy breakfast; breakfast should be a time to ease in to your morning, either alone or with the ones you love, and to enjoy a slower pace to taste and savour the most important meal of the day.
The Gently Spiced Carrot & Apple Muesli from Dorset Cereals has been a wonderful addition to the breakfast table. This weekend, before our little girl was awake on Sunday, I threw on my cosy slipper socks, an old shirt and sat down to start a very rare breakfast alone with my husband, the weekend newspaper, Sunday magazines and a nice hot coffee!
Having tried lots of Dorset Cereals other cereals over the years, I also love their little messages within the packaging… in this box:
There is little that cannot be cured by a long walk and a cup of tea.
I would love to hear about how you start your day; what do you like to experience at breakfast in your bowl or plate? Are you a creature of habit, or do you like to mix things up and try new flavours?
Dorset Cereals, Limited Edition – Gently Spiced Carrot & Apple Muesli is available to purchase at Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and online via the website.
