The Woodland Wife - Laura Ashley Homespun SS17

Change is Coming – Spring is in the Air…

Simple, Homespun style on a Misty Morning – Laura Ashley

Most would be surprised to hear that it is often the misty, moody days here in our woodland that feed my soul.

The muted birdsong, the gentle light and the absolute stillness in the trees, it serves as a wonderful tool to kick-start my day and to focus my mind.

As Spring approaches, so much is changing; gradually tiny shoots are appearing on the woodland floor, wildlife is more active around the woods and although cold, the days are getting lighter and brighter, indicating that soon, Spring will be with us.

So, as the woodland warms up, so too does my wardrobe. I am a big fan of keeping things simple; creating outfits using lots of layers, so was very excited when I got to see Laura Ashley’s SS17 Collection Preview, which introduced their beautiful Homespun Collection.

I adore this Spring Print Pinafore Dress. As someone who embraces simple, classic, timeless style, this dress with it’s floral print (taken from the Laura Ashley archive) is a wonderful addition to my simple wardrobe dress and it’s soft feminine style, makes me feel as if I’m heading out on the Canadian Prairies!

The pinafore dress, has delicate broderie trim and nice big front pockets for collecting bits and pieces on my walks (or those small toys the little refuses to carry midway through our walks!) is beautifully light and comfortable making it ideal for the daytime.

An item that I am rarely seen without is a hat; throughout the year, whatever the weather, a wide brimmed hat is an absolute must-have for me, so the Laura Ashley Grey Two Tone Felt Hat is the newest member of my hat collection!

I layered the beautiful, feminine pinafore dress, over Grey Marl Tights and layered with the Fine Stripe Long Sleeve Top with it’s fine, worn effect stripes, as well as the cosy, green Boiled Wool Crew Neck Cardigan.

All these Laura Ashley items teamed together to make the perfect outfit as my wardrobe transitions into a new season.
