The Woodland Wife - Mothers Day Ethical Gift Guide 2018

Please Note: None of what I have selected or shared in this post are affiliate links, neither have any products been gifted to me. This is a post compiled of lots of wonderful, ethical products and brands I love.

1. The Small Home – Handmade Sheepskin Moccasins

I am a big fan of all things cosy, yet I still don’t have a pair of trusty slippers… the hints have been dropped over and over to my husband, links sent for various celebrations, but still I don’t have a pair of these lovely Moccasins! As a child, I had a pair from Canada and I absolutely loved them, hence the reason I am so keen to find a replacement pair. I bought my sister a pair from The Small Home for her birthday and they really are just as lovely as they look in the photos. These Handmade Sheepskin Moccasins made exclusively for The Small Home are incredibly cosy and are traditionally crafted in the Polish Mountains.

If you want to treat your other half or mother to something that is going to win you plenty of brownie points (Paul, I REALLY hope you see this last ditch attempt at a present request!) then these are a ‘must buy’ item this Mothers Day.

2. MooGoo Skin Care – Milk Udder Cream

A must have for any Mother who wants something soothing, calming and generally something that feels like a wonderful treat, then look no further than this lovely cream. I use it last thing at night and lather it on to give my skin a lovely treat and first thing in the morning under my base layer. This MooGoo Milk Udder Cream is such a wonderful cream for all skin types; I have combination skin and as a sufferer of acne over the years, this has had a wonderful calming effect on my skin so this is a personal favourite of mine… it also smells incredible!

3. MooGoo Skin Care – Protein Shot

In a lot of hair products these days there are a lot of additives and if you are anything like me with not only sensitive skin, but a sensitive scalp, I have really struggled to find hair products that are gentle as well as giving my hair a wonderful treat. MooGoo products use nourishing oils instead of silicone in their Protein Shot as well as their incredible hair products.. Oils like Coconut Oil that penetrates hair well due to the shorter chain length of the molecule, they have also used oils like Jojoba Oil as it is smooth and slippery but doesn’t build up, as well as Olive Oil because it is a great oil for dry hair. Milk Protein helps prevent split ends and I use it just to give my hair a real treat.

I would highly recommend MooGoo products to anyone who asks. I have nearly finished all my MooGoo Milk Shampoo and Conditioner, it is a real favourite of mine and my daughters as it is so gentle, smells great and most importantly has no nasties.

4. Thought – Inga Wool Socks

I have been a huge fan of Thought for years, so I couldn’t not mention these wonderfully cosy Inga Wool Socks, crafted by their talented in-house designers in a classic design. Made in incredibly soft wool and organic cotton, Thought sustainable socks are breathable and made from ethically-sourced fibres so your feet (and the planet) stay happy and healthy. Made from 50% cotton* 30% wool 19% polyamide 1% elastane, these are the perfect gift for a mother who is on her feet at home or out and about.

5. The Simple Things – Magazine subscription

I pick this magazine up every month and thoroughly enjoy the articles. The Simple Things is a beautiful magazine with lots of different contributors, who all share about their thoughts on taking time to live well. The Simple Things cover all the topics I love, such as mindfulness and microadventures, eating and growing, forgotten wisdom, home life and slow moments… if you pick up the March issue you might even just seen a feature written by yours truly! A subscription would be a wonderful gift and a real treat for a mum, who deserves to take a seat, pick up a cuppa and read great content. With a The Simple Things magazine subscription you receive 12 issues during a one-year.

6. Hunter Gather Cook – Gift Voucher

I had read Nick Weston’s book ‘The Treehouse Diaries’ many, many years ago after gifting a copy to my husband (then boyfriend!) however, back in November last year, I was fortunate enough to visit Hunter Gather Cook and take part in a fabulous experience day with Nick and his team deep in the Sussex woodlands thanks to Jeep UK when they launched the all-new Jeep Compass. You can read more about my visit to Hunter Gather Cook by reading ‘Go Anywhere, Do Anything with the all-new Jeep Compass 2018 – Recalculating Tour‘. It was such an incredible day.

For my husband’s birthday this year, I purchased a Gift Voucher for him to visit Hunter Gather Cook for one of the seasonal courses. Gift Voucher make a unique present for Christmas, Birthdays and all sorts of special occasions, so you could treat your partner or mummy to a day of adventure and Wild food!

10. Weaver Green – Diamond Teal Blanket

I discovered this brand Weaver Green whilst visiting The Eden Project shop last week and was blown away by their products. Instant appeal and it completely grabbed my attention, however when I realised that their products are made from recycled waste, I wanted to buy it all! This Diamond Teal Blanket from Weaver Green is made entirely from approximately 50 recycled plastic bottles, but the each Weaver Green throw and blanket looks and feels like wool. These products are the perfect, practical and environmentally friendly picnic blanket or sofa throw for the eco conscious mum.
