Beautiful linen fabrics & homewares made in the UK

Pheasants roam our woodland, particularly at this time of year and the sight and sound of them trotting or frantically flapping about I find so entertaining! Earlier this month I decided to go on a hunt for some Pheasant fabric for a future project I have in mind. I was keen to find something that would fit in well in our woodland home.

We have some lovely Richard Bramble tableware with pheasants, as well as other native birds on and we also have our Burleigh ‘Asiatic Pheasant’ crockery that we chose as our wedding pattern so I felt it would be nice to find a fabric that would fit in with these.

On my search for fabric I came across a small British company, Flohr & Co. who specialise in linen fabrics, homewares and gifts. Flohr & Co’s range of linen fabrics include a unique fabric design with a beautifully hand drawn pheasant and I just fell for the illustration. It couldn’t have been any more perfect!

I contacted Caroline Smith at Flohr & Co and found out that she is the artist behind the beautiful freehand designs and the inspiration behind her designs was her original design ‘The Stork’, especially created for her very own arrival.

Since then she has added to her range of fabrics; all the illustrations are hand drawn, painted and then embroidered before being sent off to be printed. The designs are then printed in a factory in England.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I am a huge supporter of British makers, as well as being a supporter of beautifully handcrafted products so I was fascinated to find out how these designs were created. So much creativity, skill and attention to detail goes into each of Caroline’s designs and it really shows in the quality of fabric at Flohr & Co.

The linen fabric feels nice to touch and the quality is superb. This is the ideal fabric if you enjoy making your own homewares and perfect to make cushions with. These fabrics have such a quality look and feel; the stunning handrawn motifs add style and elegance to any home interior, whether a traditional country house or a home with a more modern twist.

A new collection of fabrics is soon to be launched; this collection is available on bleached white or natural linen and includes the ‘Aviator’ print as well as a car, tank design and battleship design. The designs are available in charcoal, however if a customer wanted them in a bespoke colour, this is something that Flohr & Co. would be happy to arrange. This collection of designs would be perfect in a child’s bedroom or playroom.

As well as the illustrations, there is a also a Dotty and Stripy Collection, Checked and Gingham Collection and a new ‘Starry Night’ print available.

Not only do Flohr & Co. offer a gorgeous range of linen fabrics, they also make homewares, gifts, lampshades and cushions. All are made with Flohr & Co. Oxford Linen and are of the highest quality and made in the UK. The bunting and fabric letters are made to order so you know you are receiving something truly special.

Featured in Period Living Magazine in the Talent Section, Flohr & Co. are certainly a British company to be proud of and to support. Once I find some time, I will definitely be purchasing some of the fabulous pheasant fabric for my next upcycling project and will also be giving in to temptation and buying a few bits for my daughter’s room!
