Spring has sprung thanks to Braintree Clothing SS16 Collection
Like most, I like to look nice, but fashion is something, that I feel, should reflect myself and who I am, rather than someone else in a magazine or on a red carpet. The disconnect with clothing is rapidly becoming like the disconnect with people and what they eat, so I like to be sure that the clothing I buy demonstrates the highest possible environmental and ethical standards.
Some people will claim that this comes at a high cost, but I believe in the following phrase when it comes to buying clothes, “Buy less, choose well.” The clothes I have in my wardrobe and drawers, I have had for a long time and like generations gone by, I wear them until the end of their days or I simply fix it up!
I came across Braintree Clothing a few years ago now and totally fell for the beautiful designs, some with stunning patterns, others plain, and all made of the softest fabric.
Braintree Clothing Spring/Summer 2016
For the season ahead, the team at Braintree Clothing have launched the most stunning Spring and Summer collection, with feminine florals, timeless stripes, and fresh light and white colours, all of which create such an effortless style and elegance, making the transition from Spring into Summer seamless.
I was asked to pick my favourite pieces from the Braintree Clothing SS16 collection; this of course proved near on impossible as the whole collection is absolutely beautiful, but I did find three little gems which I just love.
Braintree Clothing, Felicity Smock Top
70% Bamboo, 30% Organic Cotton Jersey
This instantly appealed to me, as when Spring and Summer arrive, I still like to wear my jeans and this beautifully light cotton jersey and bamboo smock top has a lovely effortless feel to it.
The Felicity Smock Top is understated, yet beautiful. It is spotted and has a real boho style to it. Below the neck line, it features soft pleating with some embroidery details, allowing this top to work perfectly with my favourite, trusty skinny jeans or some Summer shorts or skirts.
Braintree Clothing, Kalina Cardigan
85% Organic Cotton, 15% Wool Knit
I pretty much live in cardigans and wraps, even in the Spring and Summer. It is one of my absolute must-haves if we are out for the day, night or even staying in. There is nothing better on a mild Spring day, in my opinion, than wrapping myself up in a cardigan and the Kalina Cardigan has already become my new favourite cardi of choice.
It is unbelievably soft, with a beautiful hand drawn jacquard design, perfectly paired with soft, light Spring colours.
Braintree Clothing, Elaina Patterned Bamboo Tights
75% viscose derived from bamboo, 17% organic cotton, 8% spandex jersey.
My little girl has the best tights in our house, and often when we are out, people comment on her tights… but there is a new pair in this house and I would say that they are definitely giving my little girls tights a run for their money! Beautiful patterned tights in a range of colours for adults, something this particular mummy has been after for a long time.
I can see why Braintree Clothing’s bamboo tights are so popular; these footless tights feel so nice on my skin and that is down to the luxurious cotton rich fabric. I love the grey patterned colour, but I am already eyeing the other colours up, as these have already become one of my essential Spring/Summer accessories.
Braintree Clothing and their talented designers, makers, as well as the lovely team around them, are a brand I simply adore. Whilst they create collection after collection of stunning designs, they are also I company I fully support as I really believe in everything they stand for.
In a world where people buy clothes and discard them in a heartbeat simply for a desire to be “on trend” with “celebrity” and magazine fashion, I think, it is incredibly important that companies like Braintree Clothing are recognised for what they stand for and the beautiful products they design and produce.
