Live Happy, Live Simple – Lighthouse AW17

We all know the feeling, the latest lurgy has struck and it’s miserable outside, the thought of heading outdoors is something that no-one really feels like…

Last weekend, this was exactly what happened; with the start of half term, exhaustion levels were at their peak, illness had struck and everything felt like an uphill struggle, so the solution was to get outside in the fresh air.

Here in our home, getting outdoors and amongst nature is often all that is needed to make everyone feel better and revitalised.

I personally didn’t always feel this way; I used to be someone who was happy to stay indoors especially when I was full of cold, I would just ‘dig in’ until the cold was gone! There is nothing wrong with that of course, and sometimes digging in is essential, however my husband made me realise in the very early days of our relationship, that getting outside can do so much to not only alleviate the nasty, stuffy symptoms of a head cold, but also improve the general outlook and emotional wellbeing when you just feel rotten, after all, we all know how miserable colds can make us feel!

So this weekend, the little birdy full of cold, myself exhausted from nights of no sleep thanks to the birdy’s cough we set off for a walk. The weather was changeable; one minute it was gloriously sunny, the next it was absolutely hammering down with rain! Thankfully we were well prepared with our fabulous waterproof coats from Lighthouse.

As we stomped about in the woods we were well protected from the elements as these practical coats are not only waterproof, but they are so warm and cosy too. Crafted from 100% cotton, they are not only waterproof but stylish, functional and breathable.

Lighthouse creates beautifully made clothing as well as coats and jackets for everyday adventures, come rain or shine.

The waterproof jackets we have been wearing are perfect for any season, as well as most activities whether it is a trip to the beach, a city break or like us, a walk in the woods. Lighthouse jackets keeps you well protected from Mother Nature’s unpredictability!

We were fortunate enough to be sent three coats from Lighthouse AW17 women’s, men’s and children’s collection, below is what we chose…

I chose the Raven Jacket Sunset; I’m not someone who often wears bright colours, but this yellow coat was a waterproof I really loved! A huge hit with my daughter who calls me ‘Bob’ when I wear it, due to the fact she says I look like her favourite Minion!! This coat is keeping me warm and cosy this Autumn as it is lined with Shearling fleece. Made from 100% cotton, this waterproof and breathable style is everything I need for a wild Winter walk in the woods, or a cold, crisp Autumn morning.

My husband chose the Islander Jacket Navy; crafted from 100% Cotton outer and soft, chambray lining, the Islander waterproof rain jacket was made by Lighthouse for moorland meanders and coastal escapes. My husband has been wearing this jacket most days when he’s not in his workshop as it is highly waterproof and breathable. The Islander Jacket combines a contemporary cut with functional styling.

Our daughter chose the Ava Coat Floral Woodland Print; how could she possibly resist the hand drawn woodland print? The Ava coat has been a huge hit with my daughter; waterproof, breathable and well insulated, this little rain coat is perfect for exploring the woods come rain or shine.

Thank you so much to Lighthouse for sending us these fabulous coats, we really are thrilled with them.

Having been on the lookout for good quality waterproofs, these ticked all the boxes and I know will get plenty of wear over the years as these are coats that are made to last. We have certainly put them to the test over the last few weeks with the shift in seasons and recent changeable weather!
