Magical Indoor Fairy Doors

It’s the time of year again when myself and the little one march around the woods gathering up all our fairy doors so that the fairies know that it’s time to move inside for the Winter. This year, however, one of the fairies, Tinkerbelle, or Belle as A likes to call her, has a very special door inside the house for her.

This door was sent to us by the lovely Amy of Lola’s Little Palace. Amy has been making beautiful embroidered hoop decorations, including personalised baby keepsakes, wedding hoops and inspirational quote hoops for a few years now and selling them in her Etsy shop and a few months ago, she decided to expand her range.

After a visit to Furzey Gardens in the New Forest and The Blue Pool in Dorset and seeing her daughters imagination run wild whilst on magical fairy trails, she bought a porcelain fairy and took it home with them. When her little girl was reluctant to leave it out outside, Amy set about looking for a fairy door for inside the house.

Myself and my husband made a collection of outdoor, woodland fairy doors for our daughter when she was a baby as we struggled to find anything on the market that we actually liked, and Amy had the same problem herself, so the new range at Lola’s Little Palace was born!

Periwinkle Blue Fairy Door

These beautiful handmade fairy doors are made from a sustainable MDF which is supplied to her from a small family-run wood cutting business. Each door is sanded, primed and painted using a child-friendly paint and has a string of decorative bunting on them, each triangle is hand cut and stuck to the door.

Currently there are four colours to choose from, and I even love how each colour has a fairy inspired name; Blossom Pink, Tinkerbell Green, Periwinkle Blue and Sugarplum Purple.

Not only can you choose the colour, of which there will be more soon, you can also personalise each door with a child’s name or the name of their fairy. All the individual components of the door are assembled together before being varnished.

As you may have already guessed, I am someone who just loves the magical world of fairies and I come up with tales of when they move in, what they’re up to and sometimes leave things by the fairy doors in our woods for my little girl to find, so that she too feels the magic. When we received our door from Lola’s Little Palace there was an additional item which we were sent that I fell in love with; A tiny key, with a note that explained, if you leave the key out for a fairy… when it has gone, you know that a fairy has moved in! A fabulous touch! This key is sold as an additional extra and very soon, Amy will be expanding the range further with lots of other fairy related items.

Amy of Lola’s Little Palace and myself have a very similar passion for creating magical places and spaces for our daughters, and see it as a fabulous tool to nurture children’s imaginations, inspiring creativity and creating magical memories. These fairy doors are beautifully made and simply enchanting, so I would recommend these doors from Lola’s Little Palace to anyone looking to bring a little bit of magic into their home… whether they are for a child… or a fairy mad adult!
